Eadminight Tactics to Fight Allergies

Allergies cause an inconvenience for millions of Americans each year.  The symptoms are generally the same; runny and itchy nose, itchy and watery red eyes, and extreme pressure in the nasal cavity.  Following the tactics listed below can help you as you fight against allergies:

1.       Purify the Air in your House

The main cause for allergic reactions specific to seasonal change is the particles in the air.  Though the trigger may be different for each person, the circumstance is almost always the same.  Certain particles in the air cause the body to react in a particular way.  An air purifier can remove some of these particles from the air through the use of a special kind of air filter.  The filter can remove particles as small as 20 microns.

2.       Irrigation of the Nose

One thing that seems to work for a number of people is to pass salt water through the nose.  This act clears out much of the mucus that accumulates in the nasal cavity.  You may use a bulb syringe to help with the process.  Regular tap water works, however, it’s a bit more uncomfortable.

3.       Eat foods Rich in Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Though it has yet to be proven in the medical community, there is evidence to suggest that certain foods like salmon, walnuts, and flaxseed may provide some protection against allergies and help reduce nasal congestion.

4.       Kick-laden Condiments for Immediate Temporary Relief

Though there are many different ways to treat nasal congestion, some people prefer the use of ornamental foods.  Horseradish, chili peppers, and hot mustard are condiments that provide the necessary kick to clear up the nasal passages.

5.       Avoid Allergy-Causing Foods

Just as there are foods that help allergies, there are also foods that make allergies worse.  Try to avoid these foods as they could cause an unnecessary danger to your overall health.

6.       Take a Cold Shower or Run

Taking a cold shower may help wash away the allergens.  Also, running and other forms of aerobic exercise forces the body to open up air to the rest of the body.  This will provide decongestion during and immediately after the activity.

7.       Herbal Remedies

Though not usually considered to be conventional, herbal remedies can do wonders to eradicate the symptoms of allergies.  The British Medical Journal has reported that Butterbur can work as well as many antihistamines.

8.       Traditional Medication

When all else fails, go to the doctor and get medically prescribed medicine.  These medicines are incredibly strong and can provide adequate relief for long periods of time.
